• Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law, University of Texas at Austin School of Law
• Master of Public Affairs from The University of Texas at Austin, Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs with concentrations in Statistics, Mathematical Methods, Planning, Computer Operations Research Methods, Taxation and Public Administration. He was awarded 1981 Fellowship.
• Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin with concentrations in Humanities, Mass Communications, and Government.

• 1978 Society of Business and Economic Writers of America National Award
• 1978 William Randolph Hearst Journalism Award for articles appearing in the Texas Observer

Licensed to practice in State and Federal Courts; Member of Bar, State of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, New Orleans, La., and United States Supreme Court, Washington, D.C.; Member of Bar, all Federal District Courts in Texas; and Certified as an Attorney Ad Litem by the State of Texas. 

In more than 25 years of practicing law, Tim Mahoney has experience in the following areas: Wills and Estate Planning Documents, Power of Attorney, Probate, Guardianship, Litigation, Divorce, Child Support, CPS Defense, DWI, Traffic Tickets, and Contract Preparation and Review.
